Audience Feedback On Our Ideas

Our Idea
After getting some feedback from our peers we have come with a music video for the song. Our idea is that the video will start off with a group of boys sitting around like a gang doing different movements etc, and then the main guy will start singing but no one will realise him singing as if he’s not there almost. A girl will walk past him and he will get lost in her attractiveness and this is where the whole video will start off from. We will use voyeurism during this shot to emphasis her beauty and this will also be linking the lyrics with the music video, as it says “and this bad little mommaa walked by my way. I couldn't help but stare at ya. You could make a man wanna marry ya.” The rest of the song is basically about the boy trying to win the girl over, him taking her out to restaurant etc but then in the end of the music video you realise it was all in his head and he was just thinking about how his life would be if he had a relationship with the girl.
Another idea was that we could use the whiteboard to draw little cartoon animations as explained in the video. We would do this by first drawing one image and filming it then changing it a bit and filming it again and carrying on this process, later when we are editing it we will put it together so that it looks like a moving image.

The Feedback
Everyone like our main idea as the storyline of it meets a typical music video of that genre. They also complimented on our whiteboard idea as they said its very original but they did advice us to try out the idea before we actually put it in our video like give an example of what we intend on doing, because it can be that audience get confused as its so far from a RnB video they might reject it.

Jackie Boyz - Train Of Thought Lyrics

I was standin' outside with
my crew like yesterday
and this bad little mommaa
walked by my way. I
couldn't help but stare at ya.
You could make a man wanna marry ya.
I had to jump back for a minute
and fix my face and you
know what I'm talkin' bout
you know what I'm talkin' bout.
Damn she don't know what she do to me.

Shawty I can't deny, deny
The way you're lookin, you know you're fly.
Body so right can't be wrong.
All I need is one chance with you.
And I'mma show you just what it do.
Now that we're here face to face,
you're making me forget what I was bout to say.

Shawty make me lose my train of thought.
Caught me by surprise the way she walked.
Look good behind them jeans
made it easier to see
I want her. What I just saw made me lose
my train of thought.

So usually girl I'm not the type to don't do this, don't do this.
But I'm hypnotized girl by the way
you move them hips, lick your lips yeah.
See I can fantasize bout you and I
And you're the baddest girl I testify that's on my life
All I need is one chance with you
And I'mma show you just what it do
Damn she don't know what she do to me.

Shawty make me lose my train of thought.
Caught me by surprise the way she walked.
Look good behind them jeans made it easier to see
I want her. What I just saw made me lose
my train of thought.

Shawty make me lose my train of thought.
Caught me by surprise the way she walked.
Look good behind them jeans made it easier to see
I want her. What I just saw made me lose
my train of thought.

(Made me lose my train of thought, thought. x4)

Shawty make me lose my train of thought.
Caught me by surprise the way she walks.
Look good behind them jeans made it easier to see
I want her. What I just saw made me lose
my train of thought.

Chosen Song !!

The song we have chosen is Train Of Thoughts by Jackie Boyz, It is an RnB song

Jackie Boyz

For this A2 media coursework we have been told to find an unsigned artist or band and use their songs for our work because if we choose one of the top artists our work will always be compared to theirs and won’t be as high class as their music video.

We have been researching unsigned artists on unsigned.com we came across a group we all liked, they are called Jackie boys and they are one top unsigned group on this site. There are two group members in this band, Carlos and Steve Battey. As individuals, they started their music career singing in Savannah, Georgia, where they were born. The loss of their parents in 2003 influenced them to leave Savannah Georgia and pursue their music careers. The pair arrived in LA three years ago and have been producing music ever since. Singing isn’t the only talent these duo have they also write songs and have written songs for many of the top RnB artists. Some of the songs they have written are: Sugar- Flo Rida ft Wynter Gordon, Revolver- Madonna ft Lil Wayne, Eenie Meenie- Justin Bieber ft Sean Kingston and many more.

Which Genre?

The genre that we are planning on making a music video on is RnB, and the reason for this is that, RnB is a very fast growing, it has suddenly become the leading genre in the music industry and this type of music sells the most as well as it being the genre of music we listen to, so we will know what specific conventions are needed to make the perfect RnB music video. Rhythm and blues, often abbreviated to RnB, is a genre of popular African American music that was created in the 1940s. The term was originally used by record companies to describe recordings marketed mainly to urban African Americans, at a time when "urban, rocking, jazz based music with a heavy, insistent beat" was becoming more popular. Starting in the 1950s, after this style of music contributed to the development of rock and roll, the term "RnB" became used to refer to music styles that developed from and included electric blues, as well as gospel and soul music. By the 1970s, RnB was used as a cover term for soul and funk. In the 1980s, a newer style of RnB developed, becoming known as contemporary RnB. In the mid-1990s, sampling and scratching became a part of RnB music and can be heard on urban radio stations today. Vocal groups like TLC and solo singers such as Mary J. Blige, Usher and R. Kelly continued the RnB tradition with massive commercial success. R&B in the 21st century incorporates a variety of styles including hip-hop, rap, dance and pop. RnB music has had a strong impact on American culture for blacks and whites alike. The genre has influenced other types of music such as rock 'n' roll and also dancing, fashion, language and attitudes. As much as the black community embraced R&B music, so too did large number of the white population, especially the youth. It is arguable, therefore, that R&B music helped to promote understanding and unity between different cultures.
